Feel Good Friday

I've been thinking about doing a post like this for awhile but was waiting for something good to happen! I got lucky today! Yay!

All week, I've been having issues with A.R getting ready for school. He sleeps in, and usually wakes up half an hour before leaving to school. When he gets up, he goes downstairs and lies on the couch or plays with his Nintendo DSi! I tell him to eat his breakfast, get dressed, wash his face, and brush his teeth. Several minutes go by and I inform him his school bus will arrive soon! Still no response. No reaction. Are all nine year old boys this way? Why can't they follow simple instructions? Arggh! What am I to do? I've been having the talk with him every day. He's still having trouble making the connection. He left me no other choice. I had to put my foot down, and confiscate his Nintendo. A.R sees I am not happy with him at all.

This morning, I prepared the boys' lunches, made breakfast and read some e-mail. I didn't hear A.R wake up early, and go downstairs. He came up to me, all dressed, groomed and ready to go to school. I was so surprised. It was such a lovely morning, stress free and full of laughter! I think the best part is when he hugged and kissed me before he left for school! I never get enough of those hugs and kisses from him!

I hope he follows this routine next week! Can I also add that this bitter cold is making my hair all nice, shiny and smooth? No frizz! It makes me feel good.

Happy Friday everyone!

  3. Hi - I'm a new Friday Follower. I had this issue a few years ago when letting my oldest watch TV before school. I didn't ban TV permanently, just on school mornings. There was a week of begging and occasionally she asks to have a special TV before school morning, but it's a hard and fast rule here. It helps a lot.

  4. That is really great! There is nothing worse that trouble right before school.

My daughter wakes up early, but would be grumpy and then take forever finding a good outfit and I finally had it and told her that if she can't be polite in the morning and get ready on time - she'd have to make her own food, get her own stuff ready for school, etc.

It has been a month of bliss!!!!

Thank you for doing Feel Good Friday!
