A few weeks ago, my husband came home with a small can of almonds. He suggested I take a handful of almonds every day. I asked why, and he said it was high in fiber, and it was good for me. Really? I usually enjoy peanuts, and cashews but rarely do I eat almonds.
So, I thought I'd give it a try.
After dinner, I grab a handful of almonds to snack on. I do this every single day. What's a small amount anyway? Besides, I didn't think much of it.
Not until, I got my period.
I was expecting more of the same - being weak, miserable and bedridden. I've been suffering like this every month - for almost a year! I was wondering what was wrong with me, and thought of getting a check-up. It was all becoming too abnormal.
But this time around, I didn't experience any difficulties. I felt fine, and I was very active.
Could it be the almonds? Obviously, it changed my cycle for the better.
Why didn't anyone tell me about this before?
After doing some reading, I discovered almonds are high in monounsaturated fats (the good kind of fat - found in olive oil), vitamin E, magnesium and potassium. Also, a good source of manganese, riboflavin and copper. Want to reduce the risk of heart disease, and diabetes? Have more nuts! Pecans, chestnuts and peanuts. And they say, walnuts are even better for you! Read here. The health benefits are astounding.
I'm going to continue my almond snacks each day. Hope you will too!
And let's go nuts!
