Just Because...

I don't consider myself superstitious but I've realized there are a few things I do, and I don't know why I do them. Does this make me superstitious? I think it has been passed down from generation to generation; my family always tell me not to do certain things. I ask them why, and I'm given an answer, "Just's good luck and bad luck."

Here are some superstitions:

I don't like bugs in general especially spiders, and beetles. I'll remove them immediately but if I see a lady bug, I'll keep it inside the house. They're considered lucky.

When I celebrate my birthday, it will be on the exact date, or a day after. Never before.

When I enter a new church, I always make a wish.

When I give a purse as a gift, I never leave it empty. I always add coins for wealth and good luck.

When someone is lying down on the floor, you shouldn't walk over them. Mr.O always reminds me not to do this! Bad omen.

When you're having a meal and someone is leaving the house, you must turn your plate. This is to ensure a safe travel!

And you know what?

I find myself telling the kids to keep the lady bug in the house!

Why? Well, just because...

~ What about you? Are you superstitious? Do you avoid cracks in the pavement? Or have a lucky number?

  1. Hello! Stopping by from Friday follow! I'm your newest follower!

    I don't think I'm superstitious about anything..but my lucky # is 4!

  2. Hi! I'm a new follower via Friday follow. I had never heard that lady bugs are lucky. I've always let them stay in the house though b/c they're pretty. Every other bug has to go! :)

  3. I'm not really superstitious, but if I give a purse or wallet as a gift, I always put a penny in it. It has to be shiny and new; it's for good luck and wealth.

  4. Hi, I'm Nur. I'm new here. I'm not superstitious but during fridays and at work, I try to skip meals. I never eat pork but I'm not a Muslim. I always pray the rosary during travels but I'm not a devoted catholic. I'm careful in making wishes especially inside churches as all these wishes can come true.

  5. oh yes, we'd hit it off very well in real life!
