Soaker Wars

"Mommy, can I try out my super soaker?"

"Sure."

How could I refuse? It was a hot, humid evening, and J.P couldn't wait to play with his new toy. It was a birthday gift - two new blasters, one blue and the other red. What a great way to cool off!

Besides, I was gardening and I wanted to keep him busy, and out of my way.

J.P took out the blue blaster, filled it up with water and started to spray the driveway, the side of the house and my plants. His older brother no longer wanted to play with his Nintendo, and asked if he could play with the other.

And soon, the soaker wars began.

With rapid fire action, J.P made his assault on his unsuspecting brother. A.R took cover behind the car, the crab apple tree, and even behind his gardening mother!

I was caught in crossfire, showered in a barrage of cold water. Delirious laughter and screams filled the air.

It was sheer joy, pandemonium and wild fun!

And the boys were drenched from head to toe.

Maybe I should have asked them to change first and wear their swim trunks. What was I thinking?

When we headed inside, I found puddles in my kitchen, and a trail of wet footprints on the carpet.

Mr. O asked if I took pictures. Sadly, I did not. How could I?

Next time I'll be ready ...with my super soaker shot blaster!!!
