Young Readers

A few weeks ago, my sister-in-law gave me The Time Traveler's Wife to read. I told her I watched the movie but she recommended that I read the book.

So, lately I've been catching up on some summer reading.

And yesterday, it was another hot, humid day and I thought it would be nice to cool off outside in the evening.

I asked the boys if they would like to join me -  they both agreed.

I took out two folding chairs, and placed them on the patio. I sat down; my feet propped up on one of the chairs, and started reading.

Meanwhile, J.P came out with his light saber. My little Jedi Master was running, swinging and dueling with his imaginary foes.

And soon, his older brother appeared; brought out his book and an extra chair.

Suddenly, J.P stopped playing, pondered and then rushed back inside the house.

He, too, returned with a book!

And there we were, the three of us, sitting and reading quietly as twilight fast approached.

Usually, you would see kids in the neighbourhood skateboarding, playing street hockey or just hanging out.

Not on this day!

I was pleasantly surprised to find only  young readers!

  1. That is so sweet! Hope you like the Time Travelers Wife. Its a great book. Weird in one chapter but otherwise great!

  2. Aw, that is so cute! I just love that, so important to get kids to enjoy reading at a young age.
By the way, I'm new here, and love it! Now a new follower. I look forward to getting to know you better.

  3. That's so awesome!!! They truly do learn what they see! Great job momma!

  4. Great!Books are best companions. You had started something new for your little boys. Your sister in law I believed will be very happy knowing it was her book that started it all. :)

By the way, I am a book reader myself. Two of my nieces are bookworm, too.
